“The music I play represents those highest of highs and the lowest of lows.”
- What does your DJ name mean?
- Beyond it just being my name, I find it to be a simple solution that allows me to explore any genre while still accurately represent myself.
- What is your relationship with the music that you play?
- I go through many phases where I listen to a lot of music to absolutely no music. I obsess over artists and genres until I force a much needed break. The music I play represents those highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
- Why and how did you pick up DJ’ing?
- I started DJing at UCSD in 2010 through the DVC . At that time, I was listening to a lot drum and bass and going to underground raves. I saw the DVC on library walk and signed up after they mentioned they taught students how to DJ.
- What is the best set you’ve ever seen?
- Proxy at Voyeur SD in 2010.
- Where do you find new music?
- Listening to recorded sets on YouTube and scouring Bandcamp.
- What is an underrated genre in the current electronic music landscape?
- Nothing comes to mind. There’s a lot of opportunities to showcase any genre without much difficulty (streaming, youtube, etc). I found DJs from Southeast Asia that I’m loving right now.
- What is the weirdest venue or gig you’ve spun?
- Birch Aquarium with JYDIW for a UCSD Graduate function.
- What are you planning to play for us at Twenty:Four?
- An eclectic set of low-tempo music ranging from ambient to pop. Also a high energy showcase of 2012-today’s electro house.
